THE ART OF BRAZILIAN JIU-JITSU

Brazilian jiu-jitsu (BJJ) is a dynamic martial art, contact sport, and self-defense system originally formed from the traditional ground-based techniques of judo from Japan. Through the adaptations and teachings of Carlos and Helio Gracie, Brazilian jiu-jitsu came to be its own art and is now adopted and practiced around the world.

Jiu-jitsu, or “gentle art”, teaches an individual to overcome a challenger, no matter his or her size. Brazilian jiu-jitsu accomplishes this by transitioning the fight to the ground where practitioners employ proper technique and leverage one's own strength to defeat an opponent.

About UFC Gym® Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu

Our program teaches students of all levels and ages the fundamental knowledge and application of Brazilian jiu-jitsu. UFC GYM® Brazilian jiu-jitsu classes teach physical techniques, intelligent situational application and anatomical knowledge for a safe yet challenging experience.Classes are offered for youth and adults of all levels, with and without gi and are taught by highly regarded accomplished instructors. Each instructor, individually selected by Mauricio “Tinguinha” Mariano, is trained to deliver the approved UFC GYM® Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Curriculum.In addition, the UFC GYM® School of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is registered with the International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation (IBJJF), allowing our students to enter as a team into IBJJF local, national and international tournaments.

CLASS LIST

  • Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (Gi)

    In Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (Gi), students will learn the foundations of BJJ working on basic techniques and advance in technique and focus. Level 1 includes Takedowns, self-defense techniques, Position Controls, Position Escapes and Submissions for 50 mins. In Level 2, students will master the fundamental techniques and sequences, learning Takedowns, Submissions, Submission Escapes, Combo Attacks, Combo Escapes and BJJ technique drills for 80 mins. The program peaks at Level 3, where students can focus on more advanced techniques and sequences. This program includes Combination Takedowns, Takedown Counters, Live Takedowns, transition techniques, High Level Attacks & Escapes, High Level Counters & Submissions and specific BJJ games for 80 mins.

  • Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (No Gi)

    Students will learn the foundations of BJJ working on basic techniques. The program includes Fundamental Takedowns, self-defense techniques, Position Controls, Position Escapes and Submissions. BJJ No Gi classes are less technical and offer a faster and more dynamic style of fighting. Students do not qualify for belt or stripe ranks in the BJJ No Gi program. 50 mins.

  • Women's Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (Gi)

    Designed for women, this class teaches basic BJJ techniques and practical self-defense skills. Learn Fundamental Takedowns, Position Controls, Position Escapes, and Submissions and leave feeling stronger and more empowered than ever.* 50 mins.

  • Youth Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (Gi)

    Students will learn that there is a time and a place for martial arts training. The program integrates; self-defense techniques, conditioning and skill oriented games aiming to improve your child’s motor skills, agility and flexibility. Youth BJJ is a fun class for youth that teaches discipline and helps build confidence.
